LASALLE College of the Arts is hosting an exhibition titled 'Collection as Practice: Design Students Engage with Singapore Graphic Archives' at the ICAS galleries. The exhibition opens on 18 September 2026 and will run until 17 October 2026.
This event highlights the engagement of design students with Singapore’s rich graphic archives, showcasing their creative interpretations and research. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the historical and contemporary graphic design landscape of Singapore through student-led projects.
The exhibition is organised by the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore in collaboration with LASALLE, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering critical design practices and archival research.
Visitors can attend guided student tours scheduled for 26 September and 3 October 2026. These tours require prior registration, allowing participants to gain deeper insights into the works and the archival materials that inspired them.
Situated within LASALLE’s ICAS galleries, the exhibition forms part of the college’s broader programme of creative arts events, which regularly feature innovative projects and collaborations.
'Collection as Practice' not only celebrates Singapore’s graphic heritage but also encourages dialogue on the role of archives in design education and practice. It invites the public to witness how historical materials can inform and inspire contemporary creative processes.
This exhibition is a significant platform for students to present their work to the public while contributing to the preservation and reinterpretation of Singapore’s graphic design history.
